Trezor.io/Start®® — Starting Up Your Device® | Trezor®
Welcome to the official Trezor® start-up guide! 🎉 Whether you’ve just received your Trezor Model One® or the Trezor Model T®, you’re in the right place to begin your secure crypto journey. Trezor® is a trusted hardware wallet that protects your digital assets with industry-leading security and ease of use. Let’s get started! 🔐
Step 1: Unbox and Verify Your Device 📦
Before anything else, inspect the packaging. Trezor devices are sealed for your protection. If you notice anything unusual — broken seals, missing accessories — stop and contact Trezor Support immediately.
Inside the box, you’ll find:
- Your Trezor device (Model One® or Model T®)
- USB cable (or USB-C)
- Recovery seed cards 📝
- User guide and stickers
Step 2: Go to Trezor.io/Start® 🌐
On your computer, open a browser and visit Trezor.io/Start. This is the only official site for setting up your Trezor®.
From there:
- Select your Trezor model.
- Download Trezor Suite®, the official desktop app available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Install the app and plug in your Trezor device using the included USB cable.
Step 3: Install Firmware ⚙️
If your Trezor is new, it might not have firmware installed yet. Trezor Suite will guide you through installing the latest, secure firmware version. Always confirm actions on the Trezor screen itself to stay safe from phishing or malicious popups.
Step 4: Create or Recover a Wallet 💼
Once the firmware is installed, you’ll be prompted to:
- Create a new wallet – Ideal if you're starting fresh
- Recover a wallet – Use your 12, 18, or 24-word recovery seed to restore access to an existing wallet
⚠️ Important: Your recovery seed is NEVER shown on your computer screen. It is only displayed on your Trezor® device.
Step 5: Write Down Your Recovery Seed 🔐
Your device will now display your recovery seed — a unique set of words that can restore your funds if your device is lost or damaged.
✍️ Write these words down carefully on the provided recovery card.
📵 Never take a photo or save them digitally.
🔒 Store the card in a secure, offline place.
Step 6: Set Your PIN Code 🔢
Choose a strong PIN to protect your device. This will be required every time you connect your Trezor®. The PIN adds an extra layer of security in case someone tries to access your wallet.
Step 7: You're Ready to Go 🚀
Now you can send, receive, and manage your crypto directly in Trezor Suite®. Trezor supports a wide range of coins including:
- Bitcoin (BTC) 🟠
- Ethereum (ETH) 💠
- Litecoin (LTC) ⚪
- ERC-20 tokens and more!
You can also track your portfolio, use decentralized apps, and swap tokens — all while keeping your keys safe offline.
Final Reminders ✅
- Only use official Trezor® sites and apps
- Never share your recovery seed with anyone 🚫
- Always confirm transactions on your device screen
- Keep your software and firmware up to date
